Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013) Hill Hold Fault. Hi all, a few months ago I noticed that the hill hold function on my car stopped working, time went by and I kept forgetting to book it in. Anyway, before Christmas I had the brake pads changed as they have done 98K, thinking that this might solve the hill hold issue, but to no avail.
Hill-holder. Hill-holder is a motor vehicle device that holds the brake until the clutch is at the friction point, making it easier for a stationary vehicle to start uphill. 20 feb 2018. #1. Hallo, rij alweer 2 maandjes in een nieuwe Octavia. Hierop zou de optie 'Hill hold control' aanwezig moeten zijn. Dit heb ik echter nog nooit gemerkt dat deze aktief werd. Volgens instructie boekje gaat deze pas werken vanaf 5 graden helling. Vorige week wat meer in heuvels gereden, maar ook daar niets gemerkt.
A HILL UNDER CONTROLThe Hill-Hold Control allows easy starting up the hill without the risk of unwanted rolling backwards or using the handbrake. It is activated automatically when hill grade is higher than 5%, both when driving forward or in GOODBYE TO THE STENCH OF A BURNT CLUTCHWhen you release the brake pedal after stopping on the hill, the HHC keeps the pressure in the brake system for 1 or 2 seconds. In this interval, you can launch easily without rolling.
A hill start, just to make clear from the beginning, is the process of moving off from an incline without the car rolling backwards or forwards. Modern technology can play a hand to make life easier here, and hill-start assist is an electromechanical feature that can remove the need for you to go to the hassle of performing a hill start yourself.

Works in reverse too if you are trying to reverse up a steep hill. Problem I have is it doesn't release quick enough. The sensor used to detect the angle wouldn't be fitted to cars without the feature? My 2008 pre-FL Octavia Scout has it and I think its great. Sure I can replicate the effect myself with the handbrake but hill hold is so effortless, effective and a very neat little feature which is missed when I jump in the vRS. However I do like its hill hold function lol Link to comment Share on other sites Author Share The reason I asked is because I think it could possibly be enabled in a FL vRS with DSG using VCDS. But I needed to check there wasn't a button needed to activate it first. I haven't idea about other cars but I would imagine you would need it installed from the factory. The FL vRS has the top level ABS/ESP modules which is what the HHA/C uses so hopefully it's just a case of switching it on and doing a bit of adaptation. Link to comment Share on other sites Share I have tried to activate on my FL model, but no luck. Got couple errors on ABS. I think is because I don´t have inclination sensor. An option as the alarm is standart. Not on UK vRS it isn't. From looking in VCDS I can enable it and it allows me to alter the point at which it engages etc (normal, low revs or high revs with slipping clutch are the 3 options). However I get an ESP fault due to the longitudinal acceleration sensor not having had the correct basic settings done. I think I have got the way to do the basic setting now so I will have a look at it in the next few days and report back. No matter what type of hill, it rolls back and its a question of holding on the brakes etc. Drive a large Ford auto for work and that works fine, tbh its a far better gearbox than the DSG , now have I missed something here or do I need to get the sensors etc checked out??..thanks Link to comment Share on other sites Author Share Well after messing about for about 15 mins it turns out that the vRS doesn't have the Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor installed which is required for HHA/C to work. EFEKT Przeciwmgłowe (czy które tam zaprogramujecie), oprócz swojej normalnej funkcji będą działać tak, jak oświetlenie wnętrza w trybie AUTO czyli: załączać się za każdym razem gdy - naciśniemy przycisk odryglowywania na pilocie [LH] - odryglujemy drzwi z zamka (raczej - tego nie sprawdziłem) - otworzymy dowolne drzwi [CH] - wyjmiemy kluczyk ze stacyjki [CH] wyłączać się za każdym razem gdy - zaryglujemy drzwi (obojętnie jak choć sens ma tylko z pilota) [koniec CH] - włączymy zapłon (przy wszystkich drzwiach zamkniętych) [koniec LH] - od załączenia upłynie 30s (tylko, jak wszystkie drzwi zamknięte). WADY tego rozwiązania Światło będzie się zapalać zawsze, gdy będą spełnione powyższe warunki, niezależnie od pory dnia, nocy czy roku. A wyłączyć to można tylko przez VCDS lub bezpiecznik. Oczywiście przełącznik trybu oświetlenia wewn. (nad głową) nie ma wpływu na pracę tak zaprogramowanych świateł. No i oczywiście oświetlenie wnętrza działa jak dotąd.
